PerezHilton.com - Hollywood's Most-Hated Web Site!

I was totally amazed after logging onto PerezHilton.com with all of the information they had against on celebrities. I noticed right when i logged on that it was ‘Hollywood's Most-Hated Web Site!’ The first thing I looked at was the title that was written enormously, ‘Welcome to PEREZHILTON.COM, celebrity juice-not from concentrate. The website had several pictures of celebrities that had comments written on the picture. One picture that I came across was of Brendan Fraser, it said how he was starring in another The Mummy sequel. Also, I was shocked to see how they wrote on top of the picture, ‘fake ass smile’. I think there is a certain limit that people should not cross in regards to celebrities because they are human beings, just like us. Having such websites with all of this bias information should not be allowed because I believe that you would not like it if someone made the same website for you. While I was scrolling down the website, another picture that amazed me was of Britney Spears. The pictures title was, ‘Britney Could Get TWO YEARS Probation!!!’ Below the picture it said that a California city lawyer ‘is trying to slap Britney Spears with two years probation for driving in the state of California for years without a valid drivers license and for her hit and run in August’. I think that the vocabulary used against the celebrities is totally wrong, such as ‘trying to slap’. The reason why I think this is because I do not believe that celebrities are any different than the rest of us just because they are models or actors. Also, everyone should be treated equally and by creating a biased website in regards to celebrities is totally unfair to them. The website also included a video on the subject of Britney Spears case. Beside the video it said what Britney did, ‘this past weekend isn’t likely to help her case!’ Catch a look at the video on Britney 'running through three stop signs’

When I looked at Carson Kressley’s picture, I was really disappointed to see that it was under a file named 'Gay Gay Gay’. And below the picture it said ‘if we looked at Carson Kressley’s Christmas wish list, it would probably include ________’. I am assuming that this was supposed to be a funny joke, but I do not find being so rude towards someone is funny at all. I was shocked to see that this website also had an email address where people could provide them information regarding Hollywood stars who they hate the most. The website was: Perez@PerezHilton.com. I think there is a limit that every website consist of and this website totally crossed it. Allowing these types of websites all over the world crosses the “legal limits” of our society. Everything has a limit, and in my opinion, this website goes beyond the legal limit of immorality. Also, these kinds of websites should not be acceptable because celebrities are humans, just like us.

Rules broken in deadly Taser incident

Mr. Dziekanski was tasered at the Vancouver airport while he was waiting for his mother to receive him. The following is a picture of the police officer who shot Mr. Dziekanski with a taser. Dziekanski just arrived from Russia and the only language that he was able to speak was polish. The reason why he came to Canada was to meet his mother, who was actually waiting at another corner of the airport. Unfortunately, Mr. Dziekanski was not able to speak English and that was the only reason he waited at the airport for several hours since he was not able to communicate by asking directions. After waiting at the airport for many hours, Dziekanski started to get nervous because the people that were passing by him were staring him down. Moreover, things started to get worse when people started asking him questions which made him panic since he had no clue what they were talking about. The part of the article that confused me was when he started throwing computer tables in a room, inside the airport. However, thanks God, he didn’t hurt anyone. After this incident, the police officers tried talking to him but there was no use because he had no clue what they were talking about. This was when, the police officers used taser on him to get him to sleep for a while and stay in control. However, who could ever think that, instead of Mr. Dziekanski falling asleep, instead, he died right at the spot. This was because he was not able to bare the pain from the taser. Mr. Pritchard, who was at this incident scene, captured the first video, but the police officers took it from him so they don't get in trouble. At that time, the police officer promised to give the video back but later on they denied it. Finally, they gave the video back after a week when the court got involved. My opinion on this whole controversy is that, the police officers that were involved with this incident should definitely be sent into prison for killing an innocent man. And not only that, they first they killed him and then tried to destroy the evidence by taking it away. I think that they should have waited for someone to talk to him instead of using taser on him right away. Also, they should be asked in the court, who gave them permission to use taser against an immigrant who can’t even speak any English. This relates to the section called “minority language education rights” in the charter of rights, which means that police officers have to tell the victim the reason for the action that is being taken as well as making sure they understood it too. I believe that instead of using a taser, they should have done something nonviolent to calm him down. The Canadian government should provide all the support to Mr. Dziekanski’s family because they have lost a family member because of Vancouver's police officers mistake. Lastly, I think that this should definitely be a lesson to all of the other police officers which is to think about the situation first and than take any action.

Why do the gossip rags only feature women?

Bonnie Fuller, an editor of the popular tabloid 'Star Magazine', stated that male stories are not as interesting compared to female stories. And this is the reason why they write about various stories on women, rather than the 'boring men'. “There are more males compared to females in Hollywood as stated in the following article", (http://www.macleans.ca
/culture/entertainment). Being a female myself, I think that the society only takes their time out to read a magazine because they are curious to know what their favorite celebrities have been up to recently, along with ofcourse, the hottest gossip. Now this moves on to how people always wish to learn from their mistakes and also their good experiences, in order to make themself a better human being. My opinion on this whole controversey is that at the end of the day, people chose reading in regards to topics related to women rather then men, most likely because they find their stories more interesting. For instance, when Owen Wilson tried to commit suicide, people did not show as if they cared, however, if the same incident happened with Angelina Jolie, this would definitely be one of the hottest gossip topics. Moreover, I also believe that more female writers chose to write about females, rather than males, being aware of what's right and what's wrong. After reading the article, what I have concluded is that today's society is barely interested in reading stories on male actors. If we take a good look at why this is occuring, we will find out that male actors are usually getting caught with prostitutes or dancing in a club with some other girls. But on the other hand, female actors are enjoying their lives more than men are. Lindsay Lohan was caught doing drugs, and the worst part is that it was cocaine. Paris Hilton was recently released from prison becase she was caught driving drunk and in addition to that, she didn’t have a valid license. Definitely, this is something way more interesting which the society would like to read about rather than Brad Pitt getting caught with prostitutes. Who wouldn't, even I would. Now it’s clear that females stories are interesting rather than men and today's society only wants something that will totally shock them. Futhermore, are we suppose to blame the male actors for this whole controversey because they are not doing anything shocking? But is this a good thing or bad? The gossip-mongers themselves are unwittingly offering some hard statistical evidence that they just don't care about men. TMZ.com has a list on its website of various celebrities and the number of times they've been the main focus of a post. As of Oct. 25, 2007, Britney Spears led the way with 791 mentions, followed by Paris Hilton at 757, Anna Nicole Smith at 449 (even though she's been dead for a large portion of TMZ's existence), and Lindsay Lohan at 427. But among males, Mel Gibson leads, with only 67 mentions (http://www.macleans.ca/culture/
entertainment/article.jsp?content=
2007112_111799_111799). In my opinion, I would say that people are interested in reading about female actors as you can see in statistics above. if companies want their magazines to sell out they should include more female stories instead of men because they can earn good profit. Lastly, males are not interesting enough for people during their coffee break so it’s better for magazine companies to invest more money into female interviews and write about their life style.

In Defence of Herouxville

The article, ‘In Defence of Herouxville,’ was in regards to how Quebec is not swinging right any longer and the truth is ‘mono-culturalism’ is swinging left. Today, Quebec is the highest socially liberal province in the country which is the only city where Canadians are openly talking in regards to how far everyone should go to have room for immigrants. Quebec is the leading Canadian province and contains the second largest population. Quebec includes mostly French-speaking people as well as it protects its language and all political affairs in the province. In the previous years, people defeated Christians during culture wars, feminists, gay activists as well as additional progressives that today, do not agree to risk their winnings by promising multicultural shared aims with Muslims, Hasidic Jews and other socially conservative immigrant groups. Now, this is a new incident in Canada, however, it has been occurring in Europe for many years. Jean-Marie Le Pen was an old native on the right-wing who complained often concerning Jews and Blacks. In 2002, Fortuyn was assassinated because he was known as a right-wing in the Western media. This was because of his contemptuous comments in regards to Muslims. Two sides of the same coin, Fortuyn’s image described as a strong, openly gay populist who defeated euthanasia from his life as well as liberal drug policies and same-sex marriage. In my opinion, the reason why he was strictly against Muslim culture was because Islam is ‘a monotheistic religion characterized by the acceptance of the doctrine of submission to God and to Muhammad as the chief and last prophet of God’. (http://www.answers.com/islam&r=67) The holy book of Islam is known as the Qur'an, which includes God's exposures to Muhammad. In Islam, topics such as same-sex marriage are strictly prohibited because of what Muslims believe in. Nowadays, people are claiming Quebec as the ‘state-of-the-art’ which is the European-style worldly laissez-faire.
The following picture is of a Muslim woman arguing with a resident in Quebec, Herouxville in February, 2007. My opinion on this whole controversy is that the thought that appeared in the Globe and Mail last week, "Herouxville is old Quebec, old Canada" is not only incorrect, however, it is the reverse of the reality. The stain that was tried to put on Quebec is completely wrong because it is nothing close to what happens authentically.
The following is a video of a muslim women talking in regards to people's reaction towards her hijab.
