Is China becoming a superpower in Africa?

For the previous five-ten years, China is becoming stronger in economic, international relations as well as the outlook as a whole. Above and beyond those aspects, China is developing a secure relationship with Africa. Currently, China is erasing its name, a market-driven socialist economy to that is a totally free economy. By now, China has greatly improved the way citizens are living today. Recently, the president of China made a visit to Africa which hit the headline news immediately. Mr. Hu Jintao is providing Africa with investments that will eventually decrease their debts. But the blurred part of this happening is, why is Hu being so generous to developing countries? Many countries are assuming that China wants Africa’s economy to develop massively. Also, Hu could be feeling bad for Africa’s citizens and this is why he is providing them with funds. Between 1999-2004, the number of merchandise that exports from Africa to China enlarged 48%. So the real side is that China natural resources from Africa in order to increase economically, thus, China wants to hold a tight correlation. By doing this China will get resources easily and in a lesser cost. China turned out to be Africa’s third main trading partner, with a total of $60 billion value of natural resources that were passed by Brazil. Recent studies show that China is importing 62% oil, 17% ores and metals, 7% rural material, 6% manufacturing substance and 5% textile, apparel, and footwear from Africa. My opinion on this whole controversy is that China is trying their best to exploit their relationship with all developing countries so they can attain their natural resources in the most convenient way possible. I think this is a really good opportunity for China to stable a superior relationship with other countries, including Africa. China has been progressing its country in every aspect possible, keeping in mind that it is important for them to have good connections with other countries. Despite this fact, I don’t think China is overwhelming Africa at all, in fact, if China does not expand its own international relation with Africa, the USA will. This is because the USE would not leave any opportunity to acquire oil from any country worldwide. On the whole, maintaining a stable diplomacy relationship among countries is playing smart since it improves the economic and population.

The following is a video in regards to the relationship between China and Africa.

Sex and marriage with robots? It could happen

David Levy recently completed his Ph.D. on the subject of human-robot relationships at the University of Maastricht in the Netherlands. He told 'Live Science' that it is finally possible for humans to marry robots in this century. (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21271545/wid/11915829?GT1=10450). Other than the whole world, according to David Levy this is totally realistic. “It may sound a little weird, but it isn't," Levy said. "Love and sex with robots are inevitable." (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21271545/wid/11915829?GT1=10450) David confirmed his facts by stating, it is possible to marry a robot because human get married so him/her can spend the rest of life with whoever they chose. Levy confirmed psychologists recognized several reasons why people fall in love and mostly all of them call relate to human-robot relationships. For example, one key point that make humans love each other are similar personalities and knowledge. A robot is capable of having both of these programmed inside it. But to me that is completely fake! How could you possibly marry someone who you know from before is all programmed? An additional reason why people fall in love with each other is if they know that the other person likes them which can also be programmed. Marrying robots will help people who are not for some reason able to last in a happy relationship for a period of time. Also, people who are extremely shy and are not able to communicate with the opposite sex to start a relationship will be easily able to with a robot. Later on David stated, in the beginning it might be awkward for people but media will play a big role in this technology like same sex magazines writing in regards to how good sex robots ended up to be. In my opinion, marrying robot will decrease the value of human beings. Likewise, people will start marrying robots and the importance of women will eliminate, for instance, there will be no need for a female in a household for cleaning or cooking purposes because robots will eventually take over in the future. In the present world, the reason why a man gets married to a woman is so women can give birth to their children. Consequently, marrying robots will affect the population worldwide because there will be no newborn babies and the population rate will decrease. Also, marrying robots can cause the world to come to an end because there will eventually be no existence of teenagers and the children and elders will sooner or later die. In order to stay away from these problems, we have to do something about the advance technology since day by day it is eradicating human value. “There are companies that already sell realistic sex dolls, "and it's just a matter of adding some electronics to them to add some vibration," he said, or endowing the robots with a few audio responses.”That's fairly primitive in terms of robotics, but the technology is already there." (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21271545/wid/11915829?GT1=10450)
Allowing sex and marriage with robots is crossing the legal limits of our society. Everything has a limit, and sex and marriage with robots goes beyond the legal limit of immorality. The allowance of same sex couples to marry changes the legal meaning of the word “marriage”. Marriage is an institution between one man and one woman and marriages are supposed to be for procreation and ensuring the continuation of the species. We have to stay within in the legal and reasonable limits in our society. Legalizing same sex marriages leads the society into the slippery slope where soon you may find a group that would chose to make another change in the marriage law and perhaps want to legalize incest or bestial marriage since it will not harm anyone.

McGuinty's Liberals roll to majority

Once again this year, Torontonians woke up seeing an electoral map which appeared to literally resemble the previous one. The s won a majority and were holding the city in their hand with just one chair fluctuating amongst the Grits and NDP. The Progressive Conservatives were knocked off by the Toronto Liberals as well as the PC, John Tory. The Liberals accomplished 71 seats of the House of Commons and the Conservatives won 26 and the NDP accomplished 10. The riding was held in Toronto holding 26 seats, whereas the New Democrats only had 11. Catch a look at Tory during his concession speech held in Toronto, http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/photogalleries/ONelection071010.html?g=5. Although, Tory was not able to defeat the Liberals, he declared that he still wanted to be the PC leader. He stated this after the Premier since he choose to "serve the public and the province and the party" by assuring how to persist with party members. Ridiculously, Tory stated in his concession speech that he took complete blame for his failure. Tory was very disappointed with the election results and why shouldn’t he be? To make everyone believe that he was alright with his loss, he stated, “I think we fought an honest and principled campaign, but the people have spoken,” he said. “I’ve always felt that you respect the decisions made and that’s why we have elections,” (http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=34610fe8-fc8c-4451-a160-751be82fbc1f). Assertively, he ended his speech off stating that he will remain working his hardest and one day will earn definitely the trust required. Stop one second, is it just me or is that too much confidence? I guess the future will tell! Moving on, McGuinty was unbeaten because he knew that, "Ontarians innately respond to positive agendas, they want to know what we can do together, what we can build together". He was more confident and aware for what he wanted to change and accomplish within Ontario which was one of the many reasons why he was elected, (http://communities.canada.com/nationalpost/blogs/ontarioelection/archive/2007/10/11/even-after-the-election-mcguinty-stays-on-message.aspx). “Mr. McGuinty also ran on a platform that promised $14.7-billion in new expenditures, including $3.1-billion for public education by 2011, $100-million more for hospitals and more health care workers, and money to get tough on crime” (http://www.canada.com/nationalpost/news/story.html?id=34610fe8-fc8c-4451-a160-751be82fbc1f). Generally, Tory, the party leader of the Conservatives turned out to be unsuccessful once again in this year’s ballot. Well, this blog post wrapped everything you need to know regarding the elections for this year, the Liberals won a majority!

The Greatest Hamiltonian - Victor K. Copps

Victor, the man of many faces and the proud home stadium of the Hamilton wild cats was born on Mach 21, 1919 in Haileybury, Ontario. Copps Coliseum is the city's arena for entertainment and sports which can hold a capacity of 19, 000 people and has been named after Victor K. Copps. Catch a look of the stadium from inside, (http://p.vtourist.com/1/1345899-Copps_Coliseum-Hamilton.jpg.) So what does it take to be a perfect Hamiltonian? Is it toughness or tenderness? Let’s test Victor. In World War II, Victor was a part of the Royal Canadian Air Force. This amazing Hamiltonian never stopped participating in new events within his city; subsequently he worked for a local newspaper in Timmins, Ontario. In 1945, Victor decided to settle down in Hamilton and became part of CHML as a broadcaster. Shortly after, he joined the local politicians and won the best seat on the Board of Control, and at last he became the mayor of Hamilton in 1962. Everything was going well until Victor was forced to retire because of a heart attack in 1976. He was the first Roman Catholic mayor and the second longest holder at that office. He suffered a heart attack in the 1976 Around the Bay Road Race which resulted in his death in 1988. Victor was and still is a well known individual. His daughter, Sheila Copps has also managed to keep his name remembered amongst the Hamiltonian public. Sheila is a journalist, fierce, as well as a multilingual Hamilton East MP. Two sides of the same coin, she was an environment minister, duty prime minister, and later she became a heritage minister under Jean Chretien. Victor K. Copps was one of the many individuals that worked hard to help this city in many ways; thus this is why I chose to write about him. In order to make a great Hamiltonian I think it is important for that individual to make a difference throughout their life in a positive way. And in this case, Victor and his daughter have and still are making a difference within Hamilton. Now that is what you call a true Hamiltonian. Likewise, toughness and tenderness are both two important factors that are needed within one. Both, Victor and Sheila had these two key factors within themselves and chose to make a difference in this city with their own choice. Lastly, in order to be a good Hamiltonian, it is not necessary for him/her to be born or raised here; because all that matters is if to be proud what they are, similar to Victor K. Copps…a Hamiltonian!

Should your daughter get the HPV vaccine?

HPV, also known as the human papillomavirus vaccine is a program that helps preventing human infection and/or cancer in young females. HPV is a virus that can cause consequences in the tissue growth, cervical, penile, and anal as well as many parts of the body for both men and women. Here is an illustration of cervical cancer. (http://embryology.med.unsw.edu.au/wwwhuman/MCycle/images/cervicalcancer.jpg).

There are more than 100 different types of HPV, but only four most common types are protected to prevent causing cervical cancer. In order to decrease the chance of obtaining HPV one should use a condom or a diaphragm at all times while having sex. If an individual has several sexual partners, he/she is more susceptible towards HPV. Even though there is still a possibility for one to get an infection while using protection, it still reduces the risk of getting HPV or passing it on to your partner. Canada has approved this vaccine for females aged 9-26. The vaccine is medically not suggested for expecting mothers. Young girls who have received the HPV vaccine are not conscious as to the reasons of why they are getting it.
For example,
[““Do you know what this is for?” she asks casually.
“For breast cancer?” the girl in the chair guesses.
“For cervical cancer,” Ms. Hall corrects, not for the last time that morning”].
This calls for more awareness to be implemented by family doctors and schools. According to studies, one woman dies of cervical cancer everyday and four others are diagnosed with it. Likewise, Canada has one of the highest rates of cancer of the vulva, also linked to HPV. The following video shows how a mother of two daughters thinks it is commendable that medicine has developed a vaccine to prevent cancer for women who have not came across sexual encounters and could benefit from it, (http://youtube.com/watch?v=4z2GTcEFoSY&mode=related&search=).
It is better to be safe than sorry. Learning from the research and keeping the statistics in mind, it is better to administer this drug and help irradiate the risks of HPV. In my opinion, the vaccine would not only help counter the disease but all the hype surrounding it will help bring about more awareness amongst the youth regarding STDs. The question is...would you want your daughter receiving this vaccine?

Decreasing Marriage Rate in Canada
For the first time ever, recent studies show that Canada has more unmarried citizens than married ones. In today’s society, most of us are delaying an important part of life, which is to start a family of your own. There are many distractions which result in this delay, education and finding a proper career job. However, the question which lie’s is- are they actually worth it? No, both men/women should not delay getting married and having a family, regardless of what the situation is. Stats show that women are most fertile between the ages of 20-24 and once they are past this age the chances of them getting pregnant decreases massively. “The Office of National Statistics has reported that, since the 1980’s the rates for women giving birth at age 30 or over have gone up, while the rates for women giving birth aged under 30 have fallen” (http://www.babycenter.ca/preconception/activelytrying/ageandfertility/). Besides, what does getting married have to do with having children? Statistics show that getting married does increase the chances of producing more children yet, it also helps families being more secure. Unmarried couple’s have more chances to break up than married ones. The following diagram illustrates pregnancy rates over the course of one year; the two line graphs are for females with normal reproductive function. Why are people rejecting traditional marriage? It’s because in today’s time period we have more choices to pick out of rather than back in the days where marriage was the only option. Given a variety of choices, we would wait years thinking we found the right soul-mate rather than taking this step before. In order to find a man whom you want to marry and who wants to marry you-all you have to do is be ready to get yourself into a commitment. I checked out CBC to see if I can lock onto some more information on this matter and it stated that, “Data drawn from the 2006 census shows that last year 51.5% of the population aged 15-up had never been married, divorced, separated or widowed. But just 5 years earlier that number was just below the 50% mark. Conversely, last year only 48.5% of people aged 15-up were legally married, that’s down from 50.1% in 2001. The trend has been going on for years; 20 years ago only 38.6% of the population was unmarried”. We are so caught up in our everyday lives that we are not thinking about our future. Thus, I believe marriage is one of the greatest things in this world and that we shouldn’t delay it more than necessary. Being in a relationship makes you a stronger and healthier human being, when one falls lonely, they have someone to love, cry with, talk to, share life, and grow old with…what else could you ask for?
